Episode 015 – 5 Steps to leaving stress at the door to take care of you, your family, and your business

In episode 15, we cover a bit more about what we talked about in episode 14 – why it’s important to leave the stress of your business out of your family life. This time, we focus on how you can achieve that goal to take care of you, your family, and your business.

Step One: Decide to leave the stress behind.

As always, the first step to accomplishing anything at all is to actively and directly decide that you’re going to do it!

Step Two: Symbolize your situation.

Make leaving it at the “door” a literal symbol. When you walk through the door to your home, imagine yourself putting down your work stress with your keys and jacket – and don’t pick it up again til you leave for work the next day!

Step Three: Prepare ahead of time.

Preset in your mind what your life will look like when you don’t bring that stress home. Get the image in your head so you know what you’re working for.

Step Four: Get ready for the backslide.

Remember, you’re going to take a step or two back. That’s okay. Don’t let the natural and inevitable backslide stop you from moving forward. Instead, use backslide to learn what you need to tweak and change to make it work for you.

Step Five: Reward any and all movement forward.

For your family or for yourself. If your life starts to look like what you want it to look like without the stress from your business, celebrate with something you and your family love.
